Dr. David Bonasso
Dr.
Bonasso is a charter member of the Board of Directors.
He has been a practicing dentist for 26 years in Fairmont.
He graduated from West Virginia University's School
of Dentistry in 1976. In addition to serving the Youth
Academy, Dr. Bonasso also serves on the boards of First
Exchange Bank and Fairmont Catholic School. He is also
a member of Rotary. He has three children and has been
married to his wife, Rosemary, for 24 years. Dr. Bonasso
resides in Fairmont.
Dr. Ronald Pearse
Dr.
Pearse is also a charter member of the Youth Academy
Board of Directors. For 10 years he served as the Chair
of Fairmont State University's School of Social Sciences.
He retired in 2003 after serving as a full-time professor
at FSU for 35 years. Dr. Pearse is a licensed psychologist
who has been in private practice for 33 years. Dr. Pearse
received his Ed.D from WVU in 1990. He has served on
numerous boards for local agencies and has contracted
his services to organizations devoted to helping troubled
children. Dr. Pearse is a resident of Fairmont.
David Lester
David
began his career at Pennsylvania & West Virginia
Supply Company, followed by more than 23 years in various
sales positions at Fairmont Supply Company. For a period
of 10 years, while with Fairmont Supply, David worked
onsite two days per week at a large paper mill in Luke,
Maryland. In addition to operational duties, he was
responsible for the maintenance, engineering, purchasing
and storeroom functions of the plant.
David joined Applied Industrial
Technologies in 1999 as an Account Manager at the company's
Fairmont, West Virginia service center. As Account Manager,
David worked with Weyerhaeuser's Trus Joist plant in
Buckhannon, WV overseeing every phase of plant production
as well as DVA (Document Value Added), troubleshooting,
and various safety and product training classes. In
addition, he worked with Weyerhaeuser's management to
share plant successes as well as documented productivity
increases.
Today, David uses his more than
35 years of industrial experience to serve as Applied's
Director of Customer Training. In this position, David
works with many of the nation's largest corporations
in designing needs-based training programs to benefit
their associates and plant operations.
David is a graduate of Fairmont
State College with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Scott Radman
Scott has been on the Board of Directors
of the Youth Academy since 2003 He is a 1997 graduate
of the West Virginia University School of Law after
receiving his undergraduate degree from WVU in 1992.
He is an attorney in private practice in Morgantown.
Scott is also the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
of Aberdeen Holdings, L.L.C. He is a native of Morgantown
and currently resides there.
Gia Serafini Deasy
Gia joined the Youth Academy Board
of Directors in 2007. She possesses a wealth of knowledge
and experience regarding children with special needs.
Currently she is the Special Services Director for the
Marion County School system. She has been a special
education consultant for more than a dozen other school
districts across West Virginia and the nation. Additionally
she has been an adjunct professor at West Virginia University
where she obtained her Master's Degree in Special Education.
She earned her undergraduate degree from Fairmont State
University. Gia has nearly 25 years of professional
experience in the area of Special Education. She currently
resides in Fairmont.
Joe Larry
Joe has been a Youth Academy Board member since 2007.
He is an associate professor of Psychology and Sociology since 1974 at Fairmont State University.
Joe also currently serves as a consulting social worker for Mon Valley Health Care Association
and Home Health and Hospice. Joe has also worked in Catholic Charities and is a veteran of the
United States Army. He has served on the Fairmont General Hospital Ethics Committee and on the
Advisory Board for Home Health Services. Joe is a native of Barbour County.
